How do I access the product I purchased? How do I log in?
There are several different places to log in to your College Essay Guy account. Go to the College Essay Guy home page, and click “Log In” in the menu bar at the top. From there you may access:

How do I access the Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) Tool?
If you purchased one of our online courses that uses the CYOA Tool, then your course will contain information for registering for the Tool. Please log in to your course or check your welcome email for details.
Once you’ve made an account, you can access it by going to the College Essay Guy home page, clicking “Log In” in the menu bar at the top, and clicking “Choose Your Own Adventure Essay Tool.”
The Choose Your Own Adventure Tool is not sold on its own. Access will be granted as a part of our How to Write an Outstanding Personal Statement courses for students and counselors, or as a part of College Essay Guy Live.
What do I do if I forget my login username or password?
We have several login portals for our different products (see above). From each login page, you have the option of completing a “password reset” or “forgot your password?” link by using the email address you used to register with us.
Optionally, our customer support team is here to help retrieve your account information should you need us.
Can I receive products at a discounted rate? What does “Pay-What-You-Can” mean and how can I get a spot?
Pay-what-you-can means that College Essay Guy offers custom, discounted pricing for a select number of individuals who demonstrate that cost is a barrier to their participation.
You can get access to the online course products on our website (students, counselors) by paying the amount that you can afford. All of our courses are available down to a minimum of $10 USD (approximately two lattes)
Pay-What-You-Can is available for:
Students who meet our family income requirements. (This also includes international students too)
College counselors working in schools, CBOs, or non-profits with small budgets and few resources for professional development, and not available for Independent Educational Consultants, who we believe have the means to purchase our courses for professional development (even if you’re just starting out!).
You may do so by going to the product landing page (for example, here is the one for the How to Write an Outstanding Personal Statement) and clicking on the pay-what-you-can button which you can typically find at the bottom of the course page.
This will send you an email with a coupon that you can use for the amount that you selected. If you selected “Other” it may take a day or two to receive the email, otherwise, you should receive the email instantly. Once you have this coupon, you can click on the link in step one of the email and follow the instructions. If you’re having trouble figuring out where to put the coupon, you can find it here.
IMPORTANT! Make sure to apply the coupon before advancing to the next page, otherwise, your card will be charged full price.
And that’s it! You will receive an email with more information about how to access the course.
How often do you offer live sessions for your courses? Where can I find your latest course schedule and information?
How many live sessions a course has and the frequency of them varies from course to course and year to year as we routinely update our course materials. The syllabus and course product are always the best place to reference the dates and times of our live sessions
There are three different areas you can check for the latest course information:
Student Course Catalogue: Catalog of all of our live and on-demand courses for students and families. We typically offer student courses live during the summer and fall.
Counselor Course Catalogue: Catalog of all of our live and on-demand courses for students and families. We typically offer counselor courses during the winter and spring.

How long will I have access to my course(s)?
Students have access to their courses for one year. Counselors have lifetime access. Access to the CYOA Tool is restricted to one year.
If I’ve signed up for a live webinar, how do I join?
If you’ve signed up for a live webinar, you will have received an email from Zoom confirming your registration. We also send 24-hour and one-hour reminder emails for our events. When the webinar time arrives, click on the hyperlink in the confirmation or reminder emails, and you will be prompted to join the event. Recordings and resources from the webinar will be emailed out within 1-2 business days after the live session.
I missed a course’s live session. How do I view it?
You can access recordings of all our live sessions inside your course product. Access the online courses here. Do note that recordings are uploaded within 1-2 business days after the session.
Once logged in, find the live course you’re participating in, and click View Course. Scroll down to the Modules and look for the live sessions. Some courses will have a dedicated “Live Q&A Session” section, while others will have recorded live sessions within the module corresponding with each week of the course.
I missed all the course’s live sessions, can I still take this course?
Absolutely! Our courses are available year-round and are comprehensive without you attending the live sessions. Plus, we record all live sessions for you to watch at your convenience.
After each live session ends, we add the recorded session to the corresponding course product.
If we aren’t holding live sessions for our courses this year, the on-demand courses are always available for purchase and will contain recordings from the most recent live occurrence of the course.
Where do I find the course syllabus?
After signing up for the course, you will receive a welcome email with information about your course, including a link to the syllabus.
If you cannot find this email, log in to our online courses, find your course, and click View Course. You can find all course information inside your course product, including the syllabus, dates, and content.
How do I view the live sessions? I didn’t receive a link to the live session.
If you’ve signed up for a live course, you will receive reminder emails with the links to the live sessions 24 hours and 1 hour before each session begins. If you don’t receive these emails, please check your junk/spam folder. Reach out to us if you can’t find your link and the course is about to begin.
The video in my course isn’t working. I can’t access the course, nothing is loading.
Please try refreshing the page or checking back in a few minutes. If this doesn’t help, please try a different web browser or device. Contact us if necessary.
I'm a counselor and I want to register my group of students for your courses.
We do not typically offer bulk rates for our online courses. However, we have many offerings for schools and organizations looking to partner with College Essay Guy. If you’re a counselor at a public school or the leader of a CBO that works with students, check out College Essay Guy Live. You may register all of their students for a series of comprehensive boot camps throughout the summer and fall each year.
If you’re looking for a customized workshop specifically for your school or organization, we offer workshops where a trained CEG facilitator will meet virtually or in person to teach one of many different topics to your students.

Can I use your materials with my students?
Absolutely! All that we ask is that you leave the logo and website on the materials. You can find more attribution information here.
What if I signed up for a live course with my parent/guardian’s email address but I want to make sure that I (the student) am receiving all of the coursework and links to webinars?
You can log into your online course portal and change your email on file in the account settings panel. Or, contact us with the email you signed up with and the email you want us to replace it with and we’ll change your information for you.
Can I get a refund?
If you purchased and completed an online course or ebook within 30 days and feel that it did not help you, then you can receive a 100% guaranteed, no-questions-asked refund.
How do I unsubscribe from the annual subscription to the Essay Workshop in a Box?
Head to the login page for the Essay Workshop in a Box. Log in if you haven’t yet.
Once you are logged in. The login portal will change and show your subscriptions. From this portal, you can manage your subscriptions or cancel them. Click here to learn more.
