How do I access the Choose Your Own Adventure Tool?
If you purchased a course that uses the Tool, then your course will contain information for registering for the Tool. Please log in to your course or check your welcome emails for details.
If you’re a student or counselor that has signed up and registered to the College Essay Guy for Schools program, you should have received a link via email from us with instructions for registering and accessing your account. If you did not get the email. please email us a help@collegeessayguy.com.
Once you’ve made an account, you can access it by going to the College Essay Guy home page, click “Log In” in the menu bar at the top, and click “Choose Your Own Adventure Essay Tool.”
How do I access the product I purchased? How do I login?
There are three different places to login to your College Essay Guy account:
If you have purchased the Counselor Premium version of Essay Workshop in a Box, you can login here. You can access this product here.
If you have purchased any of our online video courses or live webinars, you can login here. You can access all of your products in your library.
If you have access to our Choose Your Own Adventure Tool, go to the College Essay Guy home page, click “Log In” in the menu bar at the top, click “Choose Your Own Adventure Tool.” You can also access it from here.
What do I do if I forgot my login username or password?
We have three login portals for our different products:
If you have access to our CYOA tool, go to the College Essay Guy home page, click “Log In” in the menu bar at the top, click “Choose Your Own Adventure Tool” and then “Forgot email?” or “Forgot password” and follow the instructions for resetting your password.
If you are trying to access the Essay Workshop in a Box, you can reset your password by going here and clicking on “lost password?”. You’ll then receive an email with more information about resetting your password.
If you have purchased any of our other online video courses or live webinars and are having trouble accessing your account, you can reset your password by going here and clicking on “Forgot your password?” You’ll then receive an email with more information about resetting your password.
How long will I have access to my course(s)?
Students have access to their course for one year. Counselors have life-time access.
If I’ve signed up for a live webinar, how do I join?
If you’ve signed up for a live webinar, you will have received an email that looks like this. When the webinar time arrives, click on the hyperlink next to “Link:” and you will be prompted to join the online course after downloading and installing a small program.
I missed a live session, how do I view it?
You can access the past recorded live sessions when logging into your course. You can access the online courses here. Once logged in, find the live course you’re participating in, and click View Course. Scroll down to the Modules and look for the live sessions. Some courses will have a dedicated “Live Q&A Session” section, while others will have the recorded live sessions within the module corresponding with each week of the course.
I missed all the live sessions, can I still take this course?
Absolutely! Our courses are available all year round and are comprehensive without live session access. After the live sessions have ended, we will add the recorded sessions to our corresponding on-demand courses. If we aren’t holding live sessions for our courses, the on-demand courses are always available.
Where do I find the course syllabus?
After signing up for the course, you will receive a welcome email with information about your course, including the syllabus. If you cannot find this email, you will want to log in to our online courses (Go to the College Essay Guy home page, click Log In in the menu bar at the top, click Online Courses), find your course and click View Course. You can view all the course information including the syllabus, dates, and content.
How do I view the live sessions? I didn’t receive a link to the live session.
If you’ve signed up for a live course, you will receive reminder emails with the links to the live sessions 24 hours and 15 minutes before each session begins. If you don’t receive these emails, please check your junk/spam folder. Reach out to us at help@collegeessayguy.com if you can’t find your link and the course is about to begin.
The video in my course isn’t working. I can’t access the course, nothing is loading.

Can I receive products at a discounted rate? What does “pay-what-you-can” mean and how do I do it?
Pay-what-you-can means that you can get access to any of the products on our website by paying any amount that you can afford. This means that, for example, if you can only pay $47 for a product (regardless of the regular price), you can pay that amount. This also means that if you can’t afford to pay anything, you can get access to the product for absolutely free.
You can pay-what-you-can for a product by going to the product landing page (for example, here is the one for the How to Write a Personal Statement Course) and clicking on the pay-what-you-can button (for example, here’s where they are typically located).
This will send you an email with a coupon that you can use for the amount that you selected. If you selected “Other” it may take a day or two to receive the email, otherwise, you should receive the email instantly. Once you have this coupon, you can click on the link in step one of the email and follow the instructions. If you’re having trouble figuring out where to put the coupon, you can find it here.
IMPORTANT! Make sure to apply the coupon before advancing to the next page, otherwise your card will be charged full price. And that’s it! You will receive an email with more information about how to access the course.
I'm a counselor/IEC and I want to register a group of students for your signature courses. Can I or my students get a discount?
Totally. If you’re a counselor at a public school or the leader of a CBO that works with students, check out College Essay Guy for Schools. Through that program your students will receive a few of our signature courses at a severely discounted rate.

Can I use your materials with my students?
Absolutely! All that we ask is that you leave the logo and website on the materials. You can find more information here.
What if I signed up for a live course with my parent/guardian’s email address but I want to make sure that I (the student) am receiving all of the coursework and links to webinars?
Send us an email at help@collegeessayguy.com with the email you signed up with and the email you’d us to replace it with and we’ll change your information for you.
Can I get a refund?
If you purchased and completed an online course or ebook within 30 days and feel that it did not help you, then you can receive a 100% guaranteed, no-questions-asked refund.
How do I unsubscribe from the annual subscription to the essay workshop in a box?
Click your "My Account" settings tab in the lower right corner of and College Essay Guy page. A settings window will pop up in the web page.
Click on the "Manager Memberships" tab on the top of this window.
Click on the red box labeled "Cancel Subscription." Confirm this.
After doing this, you will no longer be billed annually for the Essay Workshop in a Box.
